THE HAMILTON PUNT ; OR, WHO ARE THE VICTIMS ?

Sir, — I think the books of the Hamilton District Board rill «how how the punt was. established and maintained in hard times and scarcity of revenue. It is very fine for Mr Cumming, or anyone else who have always hud value for tbeir money wben crossing the river, but, • The Hamilton District Road Board' have never received one penny refund for the large amount expended on the approaches to the ferry on both Bides .of the river. The landing-stage, the roads and other worka was paid for out of the District Revenue. The Provincial Government found the punt, the revenues from which have been enjoyed by the Hamilton Town Board, and before the Ferry is handed overtoitbe Waikato County Council, a refund of all.expenses fhould be made to the Hamilton District Board, which has for a long time been under heavy expense to meet the requirements of the travelling pubiio, and will shortly be put to further expense in providing railway approaches in different parts of their district. Roads cannot be made without money, and if the Waikato County Council obtain the

Ferry Revenue, the Hamilton District Board will have to resort to some other means of raising a revenue for the necessary works of tho district— l am, &c, A Victim.
