Fbom the report of the lneeting-of the Auckland Waste Lands Bb '6V. ItiVi on Tuesday, last, reported, by the '"Herald,' we take (he following ':— '-- " ri " ' Confiscated Lanijs.— The. Chairman repdrfed* that' the 'confiscated lands' had: not been transferred to the Board, but soon would be. Tlie plans and schedules had beon prepared and forwarded to Wellington,, so that, npt much delay could now take place.' He would, however, see the Hon Mr Whitaker, and 'request- him to use his influence to have the work expedited. '
Lands in Course op Scrvbt.:— A return of . lands : in course -of survey ' was laid before tlie Board. It showed a total area of 60,747 acres. . 'Thb Katikati 'Special Settlement, i— A letter was read from the OnderSeoretary of Crown Lands approving generally of the terms made by the Board with Mr G V Stewart. The Goremment, however, had seen fit to make two altera* tions in the Board's terms. ■ One was that Mr Stewart should introduce 200 immigrants instead of 107, and the other
v thnt the 200 immigrants should be 18*y ears' y^tu^d upwards, persons under that age not vfe** count.— -The Chairnian said he had transmitted a copy of lhe letter to Mr Stewart, but had riot yet received a reply. Mb- Stewart, some time: "before, had made application to haye the acreage of hie proposed grant reduced irom 10,000 to 8,000 acres. He had since written to request that the original number should be substituted, viz, the 10,000 acres. .The additional 2,000 acres were granted; ' subject to the conditions already imposed by the Board, and also to the approval of the Government. * V : :
Kihikihi.— Daniel Bockett requested authority to convert to his' own übo a number of rimu logs that were Bituated' in the swamp at Kihikihfc— The consideration of the application was deferred, as the'swarap alluded ; toghad not yet oome into possession of the Board. Übbwau.— Mr v William Aitkin requested that the Urewau blook,. situated between the' rivers Waitoa and) Waipa, might be deolared for sale.— The consideration of the application waa deferred.
Petition. — A petition, signed by fortyeight settlers at TaUringa, was laid on the table. Tho petitioners hdti formed themselves into a ''Working Men's Land. Association.' They were immigrants, and being out of employment, had banded themselves together for mutual help in the initiation of W* lndustrial Settlement.' They made application for Te . Puke blook, the land to be taken up in accordance with the provisions of the Homestead Act. The forty-eight petitioners and their families represented a total of 163 persons. A letter from the Chairman of the Association, Mr Biohard Blake, more fnily explained its objects, and the*" desires of its members. — The Chairmau of the Board said Te Puke hi ck contained 25/000 acres. The survey was eomp etc cl, but the plan had not yet been forwarded. On its receipt an cfl'ort ' would be made lo pass the' block through the Native Lands Court. They (the Board) were not yet in a position to deal with the land. — It was determined, after some discussion, that as soon as the block came into the hands* of the Board, the petition should receive favourable consideration.
