THE LATE MR FREDL, PILLING.
Tub funeral of the late Mr Frodk. Pilling took place yesterday, and was largely attended. In Auckland, as here, the deceased gentleman was widely known and respected. A gentleman writing us privately from Auckland, last night, says :—' The greatest sensation and nust profound sorrow have l>3en excited here by the death of poor Pilling. People who only knew him by sight, even, have expressed the deepest Borrow, and sympathy with his relatives. He was extremely popular on account of his inmly franfcj nature, his pluck, and his kindly disposition. If sympathy can do aughb to alleviate the sorrow of his relatives, it will not be wanting. I don't think I have" Been so much fceauine sorrow amongst all classes of the community on account of any event for a long time past.'
