Great Britain plumply refuses this latter request, and declares, that she will disallow' all warlike operations 'on the Canal. This is assuming a position which of itself cannot but lead to farther complication, and that the matter is really serious must be obvious from the refusal of Sir! Stafford Northcote to make known" the terms of the reply,- thongh whether that reply is. to the prbposal respecting the Suez Canal or the occupation of .Constantinople, is not made clear by*our calbgram- of .Tkursday.
