FATAL ACCIDENT AT TE AWAMUTU.

THE INQUEST. Yesterday an inquest was Inlcl at To Awamutu, before Dr Beale, Coroner, and a jury, consisting- of •MesSra &• Sibley (foremast),- JR. W. Itoche, C. T. Ricketts, H. Lewis, J. Sanderson, S. Bond, H. Calpan, H. Bruntori, W. Blencoe, J. Garmansley, Geo. Church, P. Bond and Jas. Walsh, touching 'the death oi Frederick Mounsoy. Mr Taylor deposed that -he had .known deceased, who had coaie to reside with him for the "purpose of learnt ug farming, for nearly a tnorith. On Ihursday afternoon, the 7th inst.,. at about 4 o'closk, witness, with other men and deceased, were engaged m getting- some heavy posts into a dray. The deceased then got into the dray to drive it off the ground. He had not gone rno're than ten or fifteen yards, however, when the reina got fixed under the*cart saddle, and m his attempt to extricate them he shook them on the mars and jerked her mouth. ' She started off with the dray, and one of the men F McGribbon, called to deceased to .pull the reins steadily. The mare continued her pace, and the reins remained fixed. Deceased ■ then leaned over the near side of the mare to loosen the reins, the animal kicked up, and the jerk threw deceased out of the dray, the mare still trotting. The wheel passed over his head. Those present were also examined, but their evidence is simply corroborative of that of Mr Taylor. The jury 'returned a verdict to the effect that deceased had been accidentally killed.
