THE RUSSIAN FLEET IN THE PACIFIC.
That. Russian vessels of war have been rendezvousing in the Pacific has, whenever the possibility of war with Russia has occured, been source of anxiety to these Colonies. From the San Francisco ' Evening Post' we have a full and detailed account of these vessels which, at latest dates, were lying at Mare Island. They are six in number, namely, the 'Bayahn,' flagship of the RearAdmiral Pousino, commanding the Russian fleet iu the Pacific, carrying eight guns and having a displacement of .1,950 tons; the 'Vsadnik/ six guns, displacement. 1,200 ; the ' Abek,' sister ship; the ' Toungouss,' four guns, displacement 766 toils ; the ' Ermak,' sister ship ; and- the ' Vostok,' four light guns, displacement 300 tons. Three more are expected to arrive daily from Vladisvostock, where vessels of the fleet, in Chinese and Japanese waters are directed to call for orders. All those vessels have been or are iu course of repair at the Navy Yard, with the exception of those which went into dry clock at San Francisco. The three vessels to arrive are the ' Gaydemark,' displacement 1,200 tons; 'Yaponetz,' built in New York, and re-built in a Russian dockyard two years ago, and the ' Gomostan.' Each of these vessels has about the same displacement and carries six guns, 5 and 7-inch breech-loading rifled.
