WHATAWHATA.
At the meeting held in tbe temporary schoolroom, on Thursday, there was a full attendance. A school committee was formed, as follows : —Messrs Hanson, Hindis, Bernard, Braithwaite, and Mr Day chairman. The new committee, immediately appointed Mrs Hooper as sohool teacher, sabject to the approval of the Board of Education. This lady has been teaching for sums time, and under difficulties as regards sohoolhouse, Ac, but no doubt provision will be made now that a sehool committee is in exiutanoe. An application has been made to tbe proper authorities for one or two emigrant cottages for tohool purposes, and we may get' them ; in. any case the gentleman, who has so far given the use of his building for a sohool, deserves hearty thanks. We. understand that our guardian of the peaoe, Mr MoKnight, is to be remove! from Whatawhatj, and nodoubt be may jbo relieved by* another member of the force, and we hope that the new representitive of the law, will preserve peace and order, as quietly andjpleaantly as the one who is now leaving us.— Correspondent.
