The chair was occupied by; the President (E Maclean, Esq), and the following the members present :— Messrs E B Walker, R Parker, F Hicks, H Reynolds, Brooks, WL' Martin, Clark, Parr, Gane, HAG Fergusson, Hunt, and Buttle.; .- The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Messrs Cholmohdeley and Walker (Piako Road), who were proposed at last meeting were unanimously ' elecbed members of the Club. { The Secretary read a letter from the Inspecbion Committee stating that owing to the paucity of entries for the Autumn Inspection, they had decided not to carry it out. The following letter from the W.S.N. Co, in reply to one from the Club was also read :-rNgaruawahia, 19bh April, 1877. Sin,—^Referring to your letter asking for a reduction in the freightof potatoes, below lasb seasons rates^ viz, 25s per ton froin Cambridge bo Auckland. I beg to say that the above rate is the very lowest at which ib can be done, to leave us the sligh best margin of profit, and you will see this when I explain that out of this 25s we have. to pay the railway 14s 5d per ton, and then receivings and deliverings, at Cambridge, Mercer, and Auckland, cost us at least 4s. 6d, making 18s lid, and thus leaving us the very low rate of 6s per ton for 80 miles, against the freight per rail 14s 5d for 43 miles.
