A SPRING CATTLE SHOW.

■Mr Walker moved that rule 6 be suspended, for the re3b of the meeting, in order to move a resolution regarding a spring show. Mr Clark seconded. — Carried. Mr^ Walker then said that, at last meeting of the Agricultural Association, help at Ohaupo, they decided to hold a show in the autumn. He thought that under the circumstances they ought to hold a spring show in the district, and the sooner they had a discussion to arrange mabters the better. He thought a committee should be appointed to report, and decide where it should be held. The President hoped the show was nob got up in a spirit of antagonism bo the. Agricultural Association but „■ ' ouly to fill up the Ohaupo hiatus, caused by bhe nonholding of a spring show at that place.

Mr Walker said that ifc was not

in opposition to Ohaupo, but merely to give themselves an opportunity of showing their sheep. Mr Battle said that when the question of holding a sprint* show came before the Club a few months before, he had spoken against it, because he thought that while there was another society in the district, it would not have been wise bo do so. It was thought that a show would be gob up by that society in the spring, but: at the last meeting, they had, as Mr Walker had stated, resolved nofc to hold one. till the following autumn. Thus, the Farmers Ciub was left ab libertyto hold one in the spring, 0 Cambridge. There was no chance whatever of the setblers gettiug a show at Ohanpo in the spring. It must ibe done by one district, and such a thing could be undoubtedly better organised at Cambridge than at any other one plaoe. It should be ur.ders.ood, however, that it was to be a regular annual show. Mr Hicks had great pleasure in supporting the object for similar reasons to those already assigned. He thougub it was absurd to go in for another autumn show before a spring show, it would be a long timj before they would have better cereals than cattle and sheep. Mr Clark, and Mr W L Martyn, also supported the proposal. Mr Walker then moved " That it is desirable that an anuual show be held in the spring of the year, under the auspices of the Club, and that bhe first show be held in the third week in October, and that a flower and poultry show be held in connection wibh it, and that the following gentlemen act as a committee to carry out the above, viz : Messrs Buttle, H Reynolds, James Runciman, John Runciman, John Fisher, Walker,lClark, and W L Martyn." Mr Reynolds seconded the motion, which on being put to the meeting was carried.
