THE LATE WALKING MATCH, CAMBRIDGE.
Sir, —Reading your if sue of Thursday the I2thinst, I. was surprised at the decision of t be' judges of Walking Mat«h between Kelly and Swayne. I have seen the beat of walking m the old country, and have r,ot seen anything fairer than tho walking of Swoyne, and I cannot but think that those gentlemen who acted as judges accepted a position they knew "very little if * anything about." the more so as it took them 10 days to settle between them whether tho walking was fair and make their decision public, pending, I presume, the decision of some one else. I do not epeak m favour of either men, ta I am bub slightly acquainted with one and have no knowledge of the other, but seeing the capabilities of both men and being able to judge, I am sure Swayne could give Kelly 40 yards and then boat him by 4 more. Palm am gui xncruit ferat. By inserting this you will oblige.— l am, &c, F W Reynolds. . Cambridge, April 16th, 1877.
