April 9. Thb A SParkeh Company's 8.8. Southern Cross armed here on Saturday afternoon last, consigned to Mr MoLeod, the man ager of the Tuakuu station, with a cargo of 1,300 sheep, the first instalment of 5,000, that the new owners ni'e Sending up from Canterbury. ThiF vespel will require tomako three more trips before she finishes her contract. Mtsers Studbolme and Co mean business. The schooner Echo on her last trip brought 135 bags of grass seed, which is now being sown on this estate. The stock upon this run when the remainder of the sheep and cattle arrive will be upwards of 15,000 sheep and eight hundred head of cattle. Une or two mote landed proprietor of the Studbolme stamp would give Raglan a pull out of tbe mire. Hopes were entertained that Mr Prichard would succeed in obtaining the block of land ho was negotiating for. If the ti-rms that gentleman offered could be faithfully carried out, no doubt, this settlement would feel the benefit of having such a number of settlers in its vicinity.—Own Correspondent.
