Grahamstown, last night lOcwt splendid spocimens were broken from the new run m the Moanataiari, leaving an excellent show. Tauranga, last night The Presbyterians sent a call to the Rev Mr Hay. Wellington, last night The schooner Theresa is a total wreck. She is insured for £500. Christchurch, last night. At a meeting of the C. J. C. tho mare Rosy Smart, late Blackbird, late Waterhen, was disqualified, on account of fraudulent entry, from ever ruuning where O.J. C. rules are m force. Wanganui, last night The Hon Mr Fox addressed his constituents, and said he would not support insular separation, which he regarded merely as a phase of Provincialism. He believed the Counties Act was a step m the right direction ; bub he thought the Government had made a mistake m not retaining road boards with increased powers. During next session a measure would have to be introduced to bring them into more harmonious action. He considered that small local boards ought to be placed on somewhat the same basis as large municipalities ; that the Land Fund should not be considered ordinary revenue of the colony, but should be refunded to land under the Wakefield principle. Wellington, Tuesday. TheJHawera natives stopped two survey parties Working m the bush, within the confiscated lands near here. They took possession of the instruments, tools, &c. The natives carried guns, but did nob use force. Capbain Wilson has gone out. The • Government have received no advices of the reported obstruction.
