CHURCH MILLINERY.
Sib,— ln looking over Saturday's issue of the 31st inst. 1 perceived a short account of the service held by the Rev W Calder on Good Friday, at St Peter's Church, Hamilton. In the report ib was stated that he had an altar erected draped m black 1 having upon the pall a white crucifix with appropriate motto attached. I hope some of the enlightened members of his church will inform me through the columns of your paper if such ornnments .should be used m the Church of England ; if so, I think it is time that a change took place m our church.— lam &c, A Member ob the Church or England.
[Our correspondent is slightly m error The paragraph stated that " the altar was draped, &c,"— not that an altar "had been erected," our correspondent putting it as though a special altar h_d beeneet up.— Ed W. T.] g
