CRICKET.
CAMBRIDGE 0. 0. v. PUKERIMU
0. 0.
Ok Saturday last a match was played between the two above named Clubs, m lhe Government Paddock opposite the National Hotel. The wickets were pitched at 12 o'clock noon, and it was sunset before the play concluded. As was gene* rally expected, the game resulted m an easy victory for Pukerimu, who had their best men on the ground, while Cambridge was m this respect very unfortunate, most at. the crack plny-rs being prevented by circumstances from attending, and by consequence their play was somewhat loosa. In especial the bowling was weak Hinton, whose round left arm balls are generally very destructive, being rather out of form. The ground was not m very good condition and this would m part account for the indifferent play on the part of inexperienced cricketers. Pukerimu, on the contrary, showed up remarkably well : bowling, battiog and fielding, being fully up to the maik. It is but fair to say, however, ' that they bad the services of Mr Stubbing as bowler, while tbat gentleman, strictly speaking, belongs to Cambridge, and is one of the best all round players it has. The following are the scores :—
