NGARUAWAHIA DECIDES TO HANG UP THE ACT.

On Thursday evening last, pursuant to notice, a meeting of the ratepayers of the Ngaruawahia Biding was held at the Delta Hotel, between t? £ nd 5 ° P ersons °eing present. Mr George Edgecumbe occupied the chair, when the following resolution was proposed: —

,f That iu the opinion of this meeting it is advisable that the permissive clauses of the Counties Act be not brought into force in the Waipa County." To this an amendment as follows was moved ;— •

" That until such time as the peogle thoroughly understand the meaning of the Counties Act they do not express any opinion," Only three or four hands were held up for the amendment, and the resolution was carried by a large majority.

It was then decided that Mi- Edmund FitzPatrick should be brought forward as a candidate to support the views of the electors present.
