February 26. Large numbers of nativeß are now assembling at Hikurangi for their annual meeting. The Kawhia arrived some days 1 since, and Tawhiao is at Pai Whenua I with Major Te W,h.eftro waiting the arrival of some of the southern tribes. A good many of the Ngatihaua people gassed through here on Saturday with a ullock dray loaded with eels for the meeting. There seems little or no sympathy felt amongst them for the murderer Patui, or what will be his ultimate fate.
