Slß,—l am very glad to see, in your issue (A the 30th inst., copied fiom 'Wangarei Comet,' a couiiiiuuicatii/u frvm the Hon. F Wnituker to ISir li Uoug.as, M.H.R., stating that the subsidies provided by sub-section two of section eight, of the DinaiicUl Arrangements Act, will be paid to the County Councils, although no County R*tes have beeu levied. 1 his is the more satisfactory, as the feai ot losing these subsidies nad be<n u»cd as an argument for bringing tha whole of the Ct-uutijs Act into lorco in the County of 'Waipal, which aivumeut can bo no longer urged. The different Councillors are calling meetings of th«ir respective electors, asking for their of opinion on the subj od of the third schedule, so we may soon hope to see this all important matter Auihoritat.Vc)} settled.—l am, &c, S.
