Since the' publication of our yesterday morning's edition further particulars of the murder are to hand — On perceiving the. smashing in of the windows when the warder visited the gaol afc 10.30 pm, on Tuesday.search was made, and it was found that on committing the murder with a tomahawk, which Te Patue had managed to secrete in hia room during the : afternoon, he smashed in the window of the room, | we can scarce call it a cell, in which the two prisoners were confined, and going out crossed bhe yard and forcing open the window of the warder's offica entered there and took upi several things, for traces of blood were found upon many articles. It is supposed that his search wss directed towards a revolver- which he had seen the warder cleaning, and. c about which he had previously, put several questions, and knew where the revolver was usually kept. Fortunately it_ had been removed. He had then evidently taken down the officer's sword-bayonet, and not caring to take it away, haJ laid it down on the table. He had also opened several packets of cartridges, aud took away a sheath-knife and a doubled-barrelled 'fowling piece.
