AUCKLAND THE PORT OF CALL.
> Wellington, Monday. The negotiations between the New Zealand Government and that of Sydney, and the Pacific Mail Company, are concluded on the following basis : — The Company agrees to a total subsidy of £72.500, of which Sydney pays £40,000, contingent on ratification by Parliament, and the New Zealand Govei'nnient £32,500. The steamers to call at Auckland, and, optionally with the Company, at Honolulu, not at Fiji. By this route New, Zealand mails will lie delivered about two days ea'-'lisr than under the for^var contract. They are to be distributed from and taken to Auckland at the expense af our Government, the services to commence immediately, No more of the Company's steamers aro coming down the coast. The All-England Eleven cricket match commenced here to-day, with fine weather, and on a very good wicket, the ball frequently flying over the batsman's hands. The attendance was very meagre.- Th.e Englishmen won the toss, and went in 'shortly after 12. The innings was over at 5 o'clock, with only one change in the bowling, for 119 runs. The bowling and fielding were very fair.
