| Waikato Times Offiob, Friday «veaiag. ALFRED BUOXLAND'S REPORT. On Tuesday, 23rd January, the annual sheep fair was held at Remuera. There was a large attendance. Respective prices obtained have already appeared. During the greater part of Tuesday there was a continued and heavy rain, and although the numbers penned were in excess of the advertisement (16000), under -500 remained unsold. There was a steady demand, abd equable prices for their respective qualities up to the last one thousand odd, when prioes lowered from Is to Is 6d per tf b>eadi Compared with previous jears, the stook were in better condition and improved quality, and the prices averaged about one-third lese than last year. On Wednesday the attendance was fully equal to the previous day. The stock penned were of very variable quality, and many in excess of requirements. Several lota, both of good and bad quality, were withdrawn, while favourite breeders' stook sold freely at full values, Compared wit'i the sale of laßt season, prioes were equally high. Two and fourtooth sheep were in large supply ; lambs were in leas number. The aged sheep, with few exceptions, would bring more money at the usual weekly sales.

At Remuera, Thursday, dairy ; cattle near their profit were in usual numbers, and steady inquiry at higher rates. Few store cattle offered. Fat cattle in full supply j 153 head yarded of better than usual quality. Prices were irregular, but advanced towards the close of the auction — 26s the iOOIbt was the ruling price. A tew pens of store sheep sold at late values. Fat lambs were in usualfnumfcerd, and without alteration in price. Consequent on the sheep fairs, fat sheep were aot in supply, and a further advance was sustained of about 2s per head on best wethers. Averages obtained for cattle were : A Martin, 41 bead, £9 ; Watson, 9 steers, £9 ; Storey, 57 bead, £8 14i ; R Foster, 10 head, £8 16s : John Scott, 7 head, £8 7s . O'Neil, 9 head, £6 16s.
