THE CAMBRIDGE WESLEYAN SUNDAY SOHOOL.

The anniversary of the Wesleyan Sunday School was celebrated m the u^ual manner on Tuesday, Jan 2nd, at Mr Sharp's paddook. The weuther was all thit could be desired — cloudy— without ending m the usual " Cambridge r .m" This was no doubt owing to the absence of " Yendy's" who, not putting m an appearance till evening, deceived the clerk of the weather as to his pro^ramm-. The children assembled at 10 o'olook and entered with a will into the various games provided for them by the teachers and friends. At 12 o'o ock the lunch call brought together 156 children who were amply provided with sandwiches, buns, gingerbeer, &o. The afternoon was .spent m va-ious round games, cricket, swinging, and running aud jumping for prizes which were closely and well contested. Some of the more prudent having gone into training beforehand for wbich they had no cmse to be sorry. At 4 o'olook tbey eat down agaia m a latge circle containing upwards of 200 children and were bountifully supplied with sandwiches, cakes, tea, &c. the visitors partaking of a like refreshment afterwards. AU told, there were about 350 persons present, shewing the deep interest felt m the welfare of the children. This (now looked for) local holiday cannot be provided without pecuniary assistance, and the teachers would bere wish publicly to thank the many friends who have so liberally responded to their call, upwards of £30 having been received for the above purpose — the library— and general fund of the sohool. They would a so thank Mr Sharp for the use of his paddock, not forgetting his assistance and that of many other friends. On Sunday January 7th, the children assembled m the afternoon to reoeive their prizes and reward books, each child receiving a book according to merit. An interesting address was delivered by tha Rev Ralph Brown, from Viotoria, whioh wab listened to with much attention. Three certificates of merit were also presented, having been won by members of the Cambridge Wesley m Sunday School, at the late Sunday School Union Exhibi* tion, Auckland. —Communicated.
