THE ARMED CONSTABULARY.

Very sweeping* reductions, as already announced by us, have already been made m the A.O. Force throughout the colony. In Waikato we learn that the standing force will be reduced to 80 men of all ranks, under the command of Inspector Lt.-Colonel Lyon. and sub-inspectors Newell and Morrison; and that the head-quarters of the force will be removed to ELihikihi. We also understand that the Government stores are to be at once done away yvilli. 'At Kihikihi there is only, we believe, barrack accommodation tor about 15 men, so that this order will at least entail considerable expense. The total reduction m the force consists of 200 men and 13 officers.
