MEETING OF COUNCIL
The Couty Council meeting ib just over, Messrs Peglar, Wallis R R Hunt, and Sherritt were present,, Mr Walis was Appointed Chairman pro tern, and instructions were given to ths Returning Offijera of the. Te Akau and Whangape Biding, to fill up tbe vacancies for those Hidings immediately.
It wa* decided to hold the next meet ing at Whatawhata, when the question of whether the whole Act anal be brought into opeiation or not, will be •brought forward. A complimenta'y dinner baa been given to onr worthy fellow settler, Mr "T. B. Hill on the occasion of his leaving the district for a time, to take oharge of hia old business m Newton. Mr R. S. Bush, occupied. the chair, the vice chair being filled by Mr Johnston », (formally nohoolnuwter at Over forty .guest* were present, aud a most agreeable evening was spent at Grahams Hotel, where a sumptuous repast'.had been provided. Mr Hill, I understand, intends to keep his farm and has made Arrangements for the regular holding of the newly established cattle nale.
