A POETICAL CURIOSITY
The following lines are succeptible of two meanings. A bachelor friend reads the first and third and second and fourth lines together, and seems to find an internal satisfaction m reading them thuF, for some cause or other :—
Tbe man must lead a happy life Who is directed by a wife : Who's freed from matrimonial chains Is sure to suffer for Ms pains. Adam of old could find no peace Until he saw a woman's fa y e ; ' When Eve was given for a mate Adam was m a happy state. In all the females hearts appear. Truth, darling of a heart sincere : Hypocrisy, deceit, and pride Keer known m woman to reside
What tongue ia able to unfold The worth m woman we behold 1 The falsehood that m woman dwell Is almost impereeptable. Fooled be the foolish man, I say, Who will not yield to woman's sway j Who changes from his singleness Is sure of perfect' blessedness. ~
