HOW ABOUT THE FERRY TOLLS ?
Sir,— ; Can you inform me what would be the result, as respects the control^and the revenue of bridges and ferriei, should a county on one side a river, as that of Waikato, adopt the Aot m full, and a county on the other side the river, as that of Waipa, decline to do so. The Act Bays that ferries and bridges shall be under the control of counties, and that the latter shall receive all tolls, &c, arising from such as revenue. Now, if Waipa County goes m for working the Aot, and this county does not, the question arises, as ferries and bridges belong to the Counties, and m Buch case Waikato would not be a County exercising a County's functions, whether Waipa County would not take the whole control of the several punts' and bridges on the river, and claim the whole of the tolls, &o. By answering the above question, you will oblige.— JLlbotob. . . Hamilton East. ......
[We oannot undertake the position of law advisers on county questions. Our correspondent, too, is somewhat premature m his premises, for neither he nor anyone else knows yet, we presume, what action the County Councils will take m reference to the Working of the Act.— Ed. W.T.]
