The Derby Stakes proved a failure, owiog to the Fanny Fisher colt going wrong, together with Aerolite, leaving the race a walk ever for Danebury, a proceeding which, •however Reay may hare liktd or disliked, was not palatable to the public. The Railway Plate fell to another of the Hour hern stable, Kalaoy, who won easiVy. The event of the day, consisting of the Club Handicap, was funded by Mr Owen McGee with Perfume, a regular boil over for the knowing ones, who had backed Danebury to a heavy tune. Unfortunately at the last moment Ariel and Kingfisher went amiss, compelling their owners to scratch thsm on the morning of the ra»*e, otherwise there might have been a little more excitement and a great dea 1 more uncertainty. However, the public generally applauded when they saw McGee*s yellow body and black cap to the froat, and were not disappointed. The Selling Race went to Tommy Dodd, who won by a neck, At auction R«ay bought him at 1 soy. advance on the 1 upshot prioe (200 sots). The proceedings passed off satisfactorily.
