Thi election for Couticilmen on Fridiy last, the result of which has been publithed by you, came off Very quietly, although the supporters of each of the four candidates worked most energetically for them. The defeat of the Ngabinepouri candidate will doubtleit cavie great disappointment to the ratepayers of that district, in fact, his defeat caused no little iurpriie here, as it wm generally allowed that one of the members should hare come from their diitrict. An "unfortunate aniirer given, it » said, without due consideration, to a 'question put to him at the lait moment on the day of nomination, no doubt lost him » good many Totei.
