OPENING OF THE WAIKATO BRIDGE.

The following correspondence in reference to the above is forwarded to us for publication. The bridge- w&s opened ou Friday last. Public Works Office, ■ Au€kl«nd r 2stli Deo., 1876. The Chairman Newcastle Highway Board : Rib,— l am directed by the Eon Mr Whitaker to inform you that the Waikato Bridge will be open to the public as soon as toe period required by law for notification ha« expired. This will be ou the 11th January, 1877. Meantime the Bridge will be made available to public -uva ci noon ft* the Bridge-keeper and Collector of Tolls e*n take oifice. During the period prior to the legal opening, 4he sauie scale of tolls will be charged those wishing to make me of the Bridge as ar* notified in the Waikato Times of date ■ 12th December inst. I «m also directed to request you to be prepared to deliver to trie Chairman of the Hamilton West Town Board the Newcastle Punt and all its appliances in good working order, according to the terms on which 'it was delivered to you.
