Notifications were yesterday received by the several returning officers that a plurality of votes will not be allowed in the polling that may take place to-mor-row week. However many votes a ratepayor may be entitled to under clause 41 of the Act, he will on this occasion only exercise one vote. This provision has, we presume, been made under the authority given to the Governor in clause 62 " generally to do all things." as he may think best in the case of first bringing the Act into operation, but " why" it has been done we are less able to understand.
