To JAMES HALLY, Esq, and those signing the requisition.
fi ENTLEMEN,— It is with no inconsiderable regret that I feel myself obliged to decline the honour oi bocoming a candidate for Election to tho County Council of Waikato, and of representing in that Council so influential ft district as the Cambridge Rid* ing, aud that rogret is not lessened when I observe the very flattering requisition I have had the honour to receive. One becoming a Councillor ought to be free to devote his timo and energios to the service of tho public. My many private business engagements preclude my bestowing that care and attention on the County's interests which they would imperatively demand. Tf I therefore, undertake those grave responsibilities, it would bo cither to their detriment or to that of my own private business. Holding, as I do, these Tievfs, I trust you will allow me
-to deoline being put in Nomination, and thanking you for the oonfidenco reposed in me by such ft large and influential constituency. I havo the honour to be, 'Gentlemen,
Very truly yours,
JOHN WILSON.
