THE COUNTIES.
Thh "Cross" of Thursday gave a Hat of County ridingt and the nnmber of mombcrs allotted to each from information obtained at the surrey office. We saw at a glance that the account of the "Cross," aB regaided our own countiot was full of inaccuracies, giving t^ Waipa County one member more than the Act allows, missing a ridhtg altogether out of Waikato, and stating that Kinkiriroa had never been even a highwoy district. In the afternoon of the same day the " Star" publi»h»d a lelograpliio extract from tho " Qizotte" iisued that morning in Wellington, which we give bolow, and which, we believe, will be found nearer the mark, though we are inclined to think oven yet with some sH^ht error, due perhaps to tlie wire. It is as follows : — •• Pi vko County. — Waitoa, 3 Councillors ; Mata Mat a, 2 ; Taotaoroa, 2 ; Pateteroi.
Waikito Ci>untt« — Cambridge, 2 Councillors ; Taintthere,.2 ; Kuikiriroa, 2 ; Kanuanri, 1.

Thb Hamilton Punt Approaches, though newly put in order, are not, it »eems, altogether what they should be A loaded dray passing on to the punt, on the East iidw, on Wednesday, was too muoh for the framowork, and one of the auppurts underneath Rave way. Fur.uriately no further accident occurred.
The Entertainment Committhk gave a moat successful entortaiuniont lust, night at Lequesnea Hmll, Hamilton East, concluding too late, however, to enable us to give a full report in to-daya issue. There was a tolerably fair attendanoe, and the after piece, an operatic burlesque, LSD, was well rcoeived.
Cambridge S&lb Yards. —A meeting of thosu interested in the above yards was held at the National Hotel, Cambridge, on Saturday evening lant. A conkidorablo amount of augry dlscussiou took place, an<l ultimately a committee consisting of Me«Brs Fiflber, Parker, W Martyn.Clsrke, and J*iuea Kuucimin was appointed to take steps to have thd yard* openaaioonaa possible. They were to have conferred with the Town Board onTuesday lust, but at the hour of meeting thu Board informed them that thoy had arranged the matter, and would pay the oontraotor at onru takmg the fees to pay the interest on the money borrowed for this purpo-e, oo that the yards will be opened at once.
