At the abattoir* several horses appeared to have a chance, »nd m they awopt past Iho sheds nothing ■ooked more dangerous than Irish Btew. The tff rt, however, was only a Bach in the pan, as he quickly retired, and Aldinga and Spring Jack tiring, Sibyl entered the atiaight with a clear leaJ, and for a time ihe race seemed to be at her mersy. But Phelps hud made his effort too soon, and below the carriage paddock BristU, who was running in company with Impudence, Emulation, and Timothy, gallantly answered the repeated calls of her tiny rider, and amid a stentorian roar iho caught and challenged the other daugh* ter of Tim Whi filer. The struggle was short and sharp, but the gaoienets of the old Musidora family was neTer better illustrated, »a Bnseis drew away at the mci of the stand and won & most exiting race by a couple of lengths. The winner was loudly cheered by her frien Is, and as the little boy who rode her emerged from tha weighing enclosure ha was mounted on the shoulders of a few excited winners and carried in triumph rouud the paddock.
