MB BUCKLAND'S CATTLE FAIR ' Was held on Saturday. 1200 head were catalogued, but tbc number actually sold exceeded it by 200. For well bred stock adapted for breeding purposes, there was » maiked demand ; annuals of either sex showing good quality were well com pet d for, and obtained moat vatisfootory prioei. A pedigree •hort-horn ball was knocked down for 33 guroeat, jiad grade yearling bulls fetched £9 to £14 Grade oows brought from £10 10s to £20 each. The number of o»lvea penned wat small. Thoie sold fetched from 40a to 50a eaob. Of ytanings there was a large number. Many of these were half-bred Herefords, and to judge from the spirited bidding for them, this class appeared to be the favourite atook. The prices ran from £3 5s to £4 10. Two-year olds, of whioh there were fewer than of yearling*, brought from £6 to £6. Three and four year-old*, whioh were in most request, made a very,reipeotablo show, both a* to number and quality. The prioei for them ranged from £6 10- to £8 5. Working oxen biouglu from £9 to £13 10s each. Amongst the beat cattle shown were those from Wangarei, where the settlers have shown a desire to patroniio to their utmost Mr Buckland's fair. The principal buyers on Saturday were Major George, Msesw H and J troorifellow, John Wai ace, E Constable, 3 Barton, JtC Seccombe, John Kunciin»n, Williti •• Aitken, and W J Taylor. Tho annual cheep fair will bo held as usual about the end ot February, 1877.
