WAIKATO AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION.

Sir, — It se,*n» from your report of tho meeting of this Committee at Ohaupo* and Mr Buttjd't letter on tho same subject", tlmt the question of the place for holding the Society's shows, although settled for thin year, is itlll a subject of discussion, if not of contention. How it iccms to me, if the matter is one of so .much importance, and if the various sections of the district feel so much interest in it, that there is a very simple and straightfjrward way of settling it. Hitherto these things have been arranged ut public k meeting*, bat now that the So 'iety is pro* perly constituted with regular oflbers and members, I suppose its meetings will , bo held in the tamo manner as those of any other Association. I should think tint nt the time appointed by the rules^ an anual meeting will 'be held, at which ihii matter with otherj irill be arranged for the following year. At thai meeting; members .of the Association (that is thoae who have paid Ihoir laat year's subscriptiou) only, will he present and hare the pivrer of voting. If then any part of th» district desires to have the next years' rlnjw inpflflFpn.tfiriiiir locality, let the •<tlt«et ; w jt&k p« r t come forward with «thtir Mllsjfitlfoos at once and to obtain tho privileges of roting on this and all other matter* affsctng the Society. Yju say in your report before alluded •to, that at present there aro only 120 members' names on tho books. This number seems tome to be very omill for an extensive and populous district like the Waikato, and seemi to show cither that th: whole mattor is one of very little importance, or that a goad many people would rather wrangle over details, thin really fjive a hand to help forward a useful undertaking. — I am, Jtc, Obseevpi. | September 25th, IS76|
