PHEASANTS AND GAME.
Sin, — I nm glnd to se» some steps taken t» prevent the indiscriminate shooting of game i» and about the neighbourhood of Cambridge, and I bpliove the greater purt it done by thoss who do not pay any rates nor yet feed the pheasants. I am greatly surprised that so many are allowed to shoot at all without license, who bare not one acre to shoot orer. I was credibly informed thia last week only, that there hare been over a hundred {100) braoo shot nponthe properties of Messrs Walker and Reynolds and about tha townthip of Cambridge Wost during the present season. It is moreover doubtful to me whether phsasants arc the only things that havo been shot. I hare heard of one or two parties who hart b«en minus sereral turkoyS, also a pig or two. lbs all fish that comes to the "hook. If tha settltn wera all to unite, and not allow strangers treapairing orer their farms there would be fewer oom plaints and more game for those that feed them. I have not seen pheasants so scarce and small for years as this season. — I am, &o» CakBaiDOR West.
