Mr Eoes has tabled a motion as fol-' lowb:— That certain statements having boen raado in this honorable House, shewing apparently that the lion member for Waikito, Frederick Whitaker, Esq, mis, nt theiimeof his. election to this, Pariiam^nt, and is now, interested in "an agreement and transaction with thg Executive Government, it is. expedient that a Select Committeo b& ,to inquire into and report upon the circumstances under which the same has been entered into, nnj as to whether the provisions of the "Disqualification Act have been' thereby infringo'l, such committee to have power to call for persons ' and papers, and to report within three weeks." The House is thoroughly sick of the Piakp and such hka questions, and the uuexpected large majority is intended as a broad hint to the Opposition, that such waste of public time will ba uamistakcably rasanted.
