Sib, — A few days npo I read a paragraph in jour paper referring to the probability of a considerablo reduction hping made in the A.C. Force now stationed in tho Waikato ; to what extent, or upon what grounds that . reduction may be considered necessary it ii really difficult at present -fco decide, inasmuch as the so-called Native Difficulty cannot be said to have assumed so satisfactory a character no to warrant such a •tcp being taken by the Government,— a step which, if carried into effect, may be fraught with the worst possible consequences to tho peace and safety of the settlers on the frontier.
