HARAPIPI. June 22.

For the past twenty- four hours there has been a gale blowing" hard from the W- ami N.E. It is the most tremendous blow we have had for some months, and with tho wind there was ve;y heavy rain, I have not yet heard of any damage being done, but, no doubt, there has been. Owing to the exorbitant price of meat in the nearest town, one of our seUlcis has turned his attention to butchering, for tho past year or more, and is now doing a very 'good trade at it; supplying all local demands, and taking a good deal into Alexandra, and selling ifc much cheaper iliau the resident or regular butcher- i believe he sells three or four sheep a week, aud frequently a bullock. It is a strange fact, but, a fact, none the less, that bullocks, sheep, &c , are dri*«#i over a hundred miles to'town, with all lfi|J|i expenses of driving commission, &o , and - meat is sold in Auckland a great deal cheaper than you can buy it in anj of the Waikato settlements. "Dornwell, who is a largo buyer, of Waikato beef, is nowsoiling first-class beef and mutton at, from, 2d per lb. How do the Waikato bntchers explain this. Grass is now getting scarce in the paddocks, and hay is in demand for all kinds of stock. As the weather is so wild and unsettled, very little work can bo done in the feny line.' — Own Correspondent.
