THE REPORTED MAORI DIFFICULTY
On the East Coast turns out to be of far lesß importance than the first hasty telegram furnished to the Press would le<»d the public to- suppose. We now learn IFat Te Awai objected in years past to "*the sale of To Ngao farm to the Church Mi-sion Society, and his son, Te Kiri has on several occa-ions given great trouble to Messrs Fcolt Bros., and now prevents heir occupying a portion of the farm. L; st week "he destroyed a portion of the fence newly elected. The Magistrate in the dish iet % has been communicated with, nnci we have heard that a meeting of tho Iribo to which Te Kiri belongs is to be held. The tiibe genendly condemns his action in destroying Messrs Scott Brod. fences. The annoyance is a temporary inconvenience to Moss vs Bcotfc Bios., but it is not believed th.it any serious misunderstanding will arise out of the matter.
