POOR OLD GRANNY.
Sib,— AH pracfcal persona mint thank you for occasionally opening your columns for ditou-aion. It was with surprise that I road a letter in your journal of 6th iustunt, signed Thomns Sinter, itating that poor old granny is not worthy of notice, and will not hurt her feelings bj- disclosing her real name. Mr Slater'a composition is so far bolotr mediocrity, and the spirit exhibited is so contemptible, that I should havo thrown it aside as a hoax or a sbain had I not satisfied myself that it wa» the real production ot ono that could expose himself in the manner w hich called forth mv original condemnation. Ho is beneath contempt, and I willingly hu^e allowed Ids age and evident ignorance ot the habits of a gentleman to protect him from further cxposnr*. I have been ruqueitjd by several, when he culls • • advice again, not to spare the cow bide on lliaf species of an animal. But I shall not dirty my hands with him ; I shall just give him rope enough, I know the end tint ho will put it to. - lam, &o, Truth Te Awamutu, June 8, 1576.
