THE WAIKATO HOSPITAL.
Sn, — I was much struck with the selfishness of the Ngaruawahia people as ihowu by the petition published in your Ngaruawahia correspondent's letter to day, making out that that place only is the proper one for the hospital. It might be if it was central, but it is not central. As to the advantage of its being approached by water that depends whether Hie person wishing to get at it lire* clo*e to the river bank or not. From thi* pluce for instance, he must travel oonie 15 miles tn Cambridge, or S to Alexandra, and then WAifc the arrival of a steamer, a delay whioh may bejftttal. It would b» far better for ail, had the most central position in all Waikato, one or other of the Hamilton townships been selected. It would be quite as easy for » sick man and. much more expeditious for him to be taken direct in a conveyance byroad to Hamilton and received into Hospital at once than to have to lake a land journey half or more than half as long to One or other cf the rivers and then vait for a boat. If Ng«ru»\vahia is selected it will very much cripple the usefuluesa of the institution to the larger part of the tettlera. — I am, &C F. Te Avramutu, Slay 31st, 1576.
