ALEXANDRA.
May 11. 1876. The King is daily expected at Waitoaio — is j)u)bably there, indeed, before you A<6ooive Ibis. A large number of pro-
fessors of tLe new religion, or Tarcaos as they are called, will accompany hi to. The natives arc mustering with some object at Te Kuiti — probably the expected mottlingwith the •Governor. Four canoe loads of dried shark — a special •Maori delicacy, arrived here on WcdnesXiy from tho Manukau v* the Wuikato ami tlio Waipa rivers. There is little or no news in the township. Bnsiness is very dull, as the natives are bringing down uo produce, the prices ruling being too low for them. Ifc is hard to persuade them that, having got so much per bushel last year, they shonld get a less price this year. With best oats unsaleable at 2s per pushel in Canterbury and Otago, and an extra yield by a third over previous years, they -are more likely to lose than gain hy keeping it ; but they cannot see it — Corbespoxdent.
