The City Council received a telegram announcing 1 that tho General Government subsidy of arrears of rates is posted. Tho Superintendent lias addressed letters to the three Colonial Government Com missioneis, stating that the information required by them, as stated to Mr Wood, will bo supplied v/illingly, and that had application been made in the ordinary course the expensive visit of the Commissioners would have been obviated. He protests against such an outlay at a time when the colonial revenue- has fallen bolow the estimates, and an income property tax are threatened. The Cablegrams report regarding the seizure of Stevenson's goods for evading duty proves to be untrue. Sullivan is reported to be at Wedderburn.
