THE WAIKATO BRIDGE.

Sin, — Can jou inform mo through your columns who is tobltme for tbe action, or rather inaction, talon hi the matter of tli« "Wnllato bridge. It ia now nearly six montlia tmzo it was carried sway by tho flood, and there appears no signi of its beircj replaced. Jta absence causes immense I lost to tho -whole of tho settlors in tho district who have waited too patiently for their own intoroßts, and the Mooner they make ft stir in the matter and arouso those ia authority, tho better for themselves. Those tr»volling the Delta by main road from Can.bridgo to Ohaupo nlso suffer from (ho loss of two large bridges besides, Tho t<«irpo"ary_ structures are dangerous for any but tho quick eat of hones, and travelling with vehides i* out of the question these times. The Rond Boards in the district are repairing one of these nt an expense exceeding £100, besides smaller ones tarried away in the late flood, but are quite unablo with any ordinary rating to repluoo the one orer Walker's Gully which will cost liitlc under £500 with the limber and eaithworks neces c ary. To what Government ore we to look for assistance. The Provincial Goveirment is in as ate of impecuniosity, and while the Gtneral Government receives our land revenue (heing confiscated territory), sbould they not keep in repair, or at least pive special assistance for these lurge works on main road* ?— I am, &c, A.
