W There is little or no local news to writ© of, and very few natives are to be seen in the icttlement. This is -chiefly owing to the fact that the large native 'meeting I lately alluded -to is being held at Kuiti. The JNgalimaniapotos and WaitatO3*re largely represented, •but at present Tawhiao, the King has not shown himself, among. Though be has ltft Kawhia, he is stopping at Hikurangi, but there is plenty of time for him to show up yet, as the meeting will not separate for some time. The Governor and Sir Donald Maclean aro expected to meet the King and discuss va atters generally in about a month's time, but the place of meeting is cot yet deoided. It is said that Tawhiao wishes the meeting to take place at Kuiti, but Vhat His Excellency •considers he is doing quite sufficient to meet itho Maori King on the border, or at Kavrhia. There ia evidently a strong desire oa the ■part of the King and his party that the meeting should come oil 1 .
