Brisbane, April 22nd. From tlie Chief Secretary, Brisbane, 'to Colonial Secretaiy, New Zealand :—: — Reliable information has just been received from Cooktown, that Mulligan's rush is a total failure. Eight hnndred men are on their way back to Cooktown. Great dissatisfaction and distress prevail amongst them. Will you kindly cause notice to be given in the papers, or by placard, warning people of the folly of joining in the rush, and the distress that awaits them.
