TE AWAMUTU. April 17th.
IKB crops a re all securely got in, and ploughing is in many places going ou for the coming season. There will be rao,re than the usual quantity of land sown down ia grass this year, so that Te Awamutu is likely to keep up its pre-eminence a§ the beef-producing portion of the Waikatc-. There is a general trust and wish that the report that the railway will be at once carried on from Ohaupo to the frontier ii well founded. If this district were opened up direct -with Auckland, a large impetui would, I believe, be given to dairy farm^ ing to supply the Aucklaad market, As it is, we ara cut oft' in a corner, Our dramatic club made a moat Creditable appearaace the other night at Alexandra,—[We have curtailed our correspondent's letter here, »s the report of the entertainment haa already been forwarded to us and published.— Ed. W.T.] Our young men are determined not to be behind the rest of the Waikato in athletic sports, and a meeting to establish. a Football Club is called for to-morrow evening. — [Own Correspondent.]
