WHATA WHATA. April 5.
DA Cowi*, the Bishdp of Auckland, a'rnred hero on a jpast'oral vi»it on Mondiiy, aud was heartilj weloomed by many of tlu< resident settlers, who are always glad to tee a clergyman amongst them. We hare for some time tried to get a building erected at a pluoe of public worship, for do particular denomination, but to be used by all alike, but hitherto our efforts have failed. Now, howeftr, there is every prospect that the object will b* carried out ; but the building will be a Church of England one. Th» estimated cast u £150, and as £80 are already promised it looked a* if ths object would at last ba accomplished. I am glad to sny that the ro&i between Heather's Creek and Whata Whata will be rapidly pushed on by the A C Force, the party working from Utather's Oreelc in the other direction coming back to tbat point and working toward* Whata Whata to meet the pirt.y which commenced at the end of the road nearest to tho>. ■ettlouaent. The Buhop when here gave a subscription of £25 to the mew church. The punt is being repaired, and trarellers will be glad to learn that the plan ki hare arrived to make good the bridge near Mr Rothwell's farm.
