ThtJEown Board has effected a great ltnprore ment 5J the road opposite the National Hotel The old unsightly ditch hat been filled up, and pipes hare' been laid iv the place of it, which will cvty the water off the road into a sandpit below. Altogether the appearance of the place U vastly improted. A a addition to our looal indnitries his bean made by Mr Camp, who now carries on the business of a hairdresser, <fee. No doubt the " »tate of the poll" will bo better than hereto* fore. I wi#h 'him efery tuooess in his new undertaking. I find I hare made a graye" error in st»ting that the school children had ' been granted a week's holiday on account of the prerailing ■ickne«s days only weregiren, and being ' opened again on Wednesday last about twelre children put in an appearance.
