ALEXANDRA, March, 20.
Several n&fcives'kave arrived from Kawhia who reports that Hone te One hasdeir.anded of Tavvhiao the surrender of the murderei ; but that the King positively refuses to give him up ; saying that if with all Our wives, roads, and police force, we allowed him to pass through oar settlements in br6ed day light, how can we ask him to give him up now that he'htfs got beyond oar reach, and 'fled to him. for protection. The mailman states that he himself saw Te Kooti, Winiata and six followers at Te Kuiti, when lasf. there, and he was told that the TairV.a ftiurderors were Vith them. The natives living Tsetween this and Kuiti will not rise to fight for such villians, but a few lawless spirits about Mokau will certainly try aud protect them withdut trying to Consult the humbug King or any one el&e, and they are now making such efforts to disturb the whblo of the native population by boasting of their exploitß, and holding us up to' ridicule that it is to be hoped some influence will be brought to bear upon them to protect not only our settlers, but also the peacefully disposed portion of their own race, from the rtifluenco of snch a lawless band of desparadoea. — From a Correspondent.
